BBC5 tokens - Between 1899 and 1907 speculators helped to triple the price of copper which is the major ingredient in brass. Copper prices rose from 9¢ to 27¢ per pound and when the bubble collapse it precipitated the Panic of 1907. As copper advanced in price, most die sinkers switched from brass to aluminum or reduced the size of their brass tokens.

The BBC5 is the smallest of all BBC' tokens and they date from about 1906. This one is 21mm (about 13/16").*
