Scarce token town. The Rothleutner Co. ran a General Store in Kilgore, Nebraska from 1897 to 1913.

Kilgore was founded, under the name of Boulware, in 1883. In 1885, the village was renamed Georgia. Georgia was incorporated in 1893; the name of the settlement was changed in 1904 to Kilgore when the post office objected to the name Georgia, which could be confused with the state of Georgia. The name Kilgore was chosen in honor of a family of pioneer settlers.
