Central Park (Helena, Montana) O. G. F. 10C Token - (Ole G. Fredericks)

O. G. F. was Ole. G. Frederick and he was the Proprietor of the World's Fair Concert Hall and Saloon at 100-104 South Main in downtown Helena. All of Frederick's tokens have generally been attributed to that business location even though some of them have "Central Park" on them.

Here is the story of Central Park.

The West side of Helena became the focus of city development in the 1880's with the construction of the Broadwater Hotel and Natatorium, the success of Kessler Brewing Co. and Brickyard and the early operations of the State Nursery. Served by electric streetcar the Western outskirts of Helena became a favored destination of Helena residents.

Added to all this was the opening of the magical "Central Park" in 1895. The magnificent grounds of the Park contained a merry-go-round, a large out door dance pavilion, 2 restaurants, a lake for boating in Summers and Ice harvest in Winters, bowling alleys, a league sized baseball field with grandstands, a picnic area and a fine zoo filled with animals and birds and two Saloons.

And, yes...one of those saloons was run by Ole G Frederick and that is where this token comes from.
